How much does it cost to build a web app in Indonesia?
The honest answer is that it depends on scope, but that answer helps nobody. So here is what the market in Indonesia actually charges in 2026, what moves the number, and how to keep it down without building something nobody uses.
Public price ranges by scope
Crocodic, an established Indonesian software house, publishes its 2026 estimates. They are a useful benchmark because they are split by scope rather than by page count:
| Scope | Typical range | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Prototype or validation | Rp3 to 50 million | 2 to 6 weeks |
| MVP or simple app | Rp30 to 150 million | 2 to 3 months |
| Mid level business app | Rp150 to 400 million | 3 to 6 months |
| Complex app | Rp400 million to Rp1 billion and up | 6 to 12 months |

An MVP in their framing covers login, profiles, a catalogue, forms and a basic dashboard. A mid level business app adds payments, bookings, several user roles, notifications and integrations.
What actually drives the price
- The number of user roles. An app where admins, staff and customers all see different things is several apps sharing a database.
- Integrations. Every payment gateway, accounting system, WhatsApp or Instagram connection adds work and testing.
- Data that has to be right. Money, health and legal records need more checks than a booking request.
- Native mobile apps. Building separately for iOS and Android roughly doubles the interface work.
- Unclear scope. The most expensive line in any project is the feature that changes three times.
Running costs after launch
The build is not the whole bill. Plan for hosting, a domain, any paid services the app relies on, app store fees if you publish native apps, and someone to keep it updated. Crocodic lists server hosting from around Rp24 million a year for a typical setup. A lean stack on Cloudflare can run a small web app for far less, which is one reason we use it.
How to spend less without building less
- Design every screen before any code. Changing a drawing costs hours. Changing a built feature costs days.
- Start as a web app. It installs on a phone home screen, works on every device and ships one codebase.
- Build the one workflow that matters, properly, and leave the rest for version two.
- Own your accounts and your code from day one, so the next developer does not start from zero.
